For the last twelve years Grasmere Players have run a successful Youth Theatre project in
the October half term. It has always been exciting, always fun and always very intense,
hard work, culminating in a performance. We expect about thirty young people to take part
again this year and since the Wordsworth Trust are holding a special event about
Frankenstein at that time, our students will be writing and rehearsing a play on that subject
to be performed in the garden behind Dove Cottage at 3 p.m. on Friday the 28th October and then
again in the village hall at 7 p.m..
We shall be adding some serious sound effects in the form of drumming to our repertoire
this year and we expect to use a monster puppet for Frankenstein’s creation. The students
will take responsibility for all aspects of the play, writing, rehearsing, costuming,
lighting, set design and creation, publicity etc.
All the teachers are involved in education in Performance Arts and three of the four are
long term members of the Players. Every year our audiences have been stunned by the quality
of these young people and we look forward to stunning you again on the 28th.
If you are a potential student over the age of eight and would like to join us, phone Hugh
Wright on 07877438968.
